“It’s okay to buy. What is not allowed is taking takjil charity from people for breaking the fast. That is the initial meal for breaking the fast,” said Kiai Cholil.
However, Kiai Cholil reminded non-Muslims not to take free takjil provided in public places. The free takjil is intended for those who are fasting and in need.
“It is better not to give it to others, because we know that it is intended for people who are fasting and want to break their fast. Unless those who are fasting do not need it,” explained Kiai Cholil.
Furthermore, Kiai Cholil appealed to non-Muslims to continue to respect those who are fasting. This can be done by maintaining attitudes and behavior when in public places, such as not eating and drinking in front of people who are fasting.
