SANTRI EN – Two Awards Won by Islamic Schools in Medan from SMP Islam Al Ulum Terpadu Medan, Indonesia, have won two prestigious awards at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2024 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
- The Brochist team won a gold medal for their innovative Broccoli Stem Chips (BROCHIST), while the Prota Alfa team won a silver medal for their eco-friendly Portable AC, ROTA ALFA.
MTE 2024, themed “Technology for a Sustainable Future”, was attended by various companies, educational institutions, and inventors from various Southeast Asian countries. This outstanding achievement by SMP Islam Al Ulum Terpadu Medan students demonstrates the extraordinary potential of the young generation in Indonesia in the fields of science and technology, as well as their commitment to creating innovative and environmentally friendly solutions.
The Brochist team impressed the judges with their BROCHIST innovation, a delicious and nutritious snack made from broccoli stems. Usually discarded, broccoli stems are processed into chips that are rich in fiber and vitamins using an environmentally friendly process.
The Prota Alfa team presented the ROTA ALFA innovation, a portable AC equipped with a temperature sensor and solar panel. This AC can be used anywhere without requiring an electricity source, making it an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly cooling solution.
The two awards won by Islamic Schools in Medan not only bring glory to SMP Islam Al Ulum Terpadu Medan but also Indonesia on the international stage. The Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Makarim, expressed his appreciation for the students’ achievements. “This achievement is a source of pride for the Indonesian nation.
